Subject: Vilma Hunt's theories about uranium U-Boats

Dear Joseph Betters,

I stumbled on your website after some three years of research into U-boats to Asia and having read some of the comments feel the need to correct them. Germany's Uranium came from Joachimsthal, in Nazi occupied western Chechoslovakia. Not from the Congo as your website speculates. The last two transport U-boats to reach Jakarta in November 1944(U-195 & U-129) between themselves carried 12 V-2 rockets in disassembled fashion and one may ask why ?

A German U-boat was connected with Japan's Unit 734 in an attempt to spread biological weapons in the US Leyte Gulf landings on the Philippines. Unit 734 was based in Manchuria and several U-boats and former Italian submarines did travel to Japan. The speculation that U-boats were involved with moving the Axis A-bomb project to Hungnam in northern Korea (then known as Choesul) is highly plausible in my view. Nor was U-234 the first to carry Uranium. In 1974 the West German Government used a vessel conected with CIA deep sea recovery activities to retreive "Mercury" from the wreck of the U-859 in the northern Straits of Malacca. U-boats carried Mercury in zinc cannisters inside the flooded keel and ballast tanks. Mercury when mixed with Uranium Oxide forms a paste which resists the hydrostatic crushing of U-boat dives and can later be separated from the Uranium quite easily. Also the Italian sub "Amiraglio Cagni" capitulated at Cape Town South Africa on 8 September 1943 with a load of "Mercury" aka Uranium-oxide, so that the British knew what the Americans knew from U-234 long before hand. USA Magic decrypts of signals to the Japanese embassy in Berlin also discovered requests for Uranium from Japanese A-bomb project in July 1943. The German A-bomb laboratory was destroyed by the Hamburg bombing raids in July 1943 and was shifted after this. The Germans developed a gas centrifuge technology to refine bomb grade uranium in 1942 that did not require heavy water reactors. The Nazis I believe transferred this technology to Japan during 43-44.

I trust this helps and hope that you update your website on the topic. I am happy to hear from interested persons and develop other points that I have learned.
