He attended the University of Tennessee and George Washington University. He was a member of the U.S. Merchant Marine from 1943 to 1953, attaining the rank of Chief Mate. His first duty was in the amphibious command ship TACONIC (AGC/LCC17) from which he was transfered to the destroyer MOALE (DD693). He later served as Commanding Officer of the tank landing ship DEKALB COUNTY (LST715). His shore duty included tours in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. He was advanced to his present rank on July 1, 1961. Lieutenant Commander Wright is married to the former Anne Catherine Renzi of Providence, Rhode Island. Lieutenant Commander Wright has been selected for promotion to Commander and departs for duty in the Office of the Chief of Naval Personnel. howey03.jpg ![]() Lt. Commander Marcus A. Arnheiter, 39, a native of New York and Kezar Lake, Maine, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1952. His service since has included duty in the battleship IOWA (BB61) during the Korean War shore bombardments of the North Korean coast, participation in several NATO exercises on the high seas of the North Atlantic and Mediterranean while attached to various destroyers, action in Beirut during the Lebanon crisis, and more recently on the staff of the U. S. 7th Fleet Cruiser-Destroyer Force Commander in the present operations against the Viet Cong in South Vietnam. Immediately prior to that assignment, he was Executive Officer of the destroyer USS INGERSOLL (DD652). Duty afloat has included responsibilities as Gunnery Officer in both destroyers FISKE and COOLBAUGH, and Operations Officer of both the destroyer ABBOT and the guided missile frigate WORDEN, as well as earlier billets in the Navigation, Operations, and Engineering Departments of the USS IOWA. From 1960 to 1963, Arnheiter was attached to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations in the Pentagon. He holds a Master's degree in Personnel Management from the George Washington University.
He is married to the former Janice Blair Vaughan of New York and Easthampton, L.I. They have five children: Jeffrey (8), Ashley (6), Christopher (4), and twin daughters born in August of this year.
