Comments= As a LTJG, I served as Officer-in Charge, PCF 37, Coastal Division 13, out of Cat Lo, RVN. Rode the Vance and Koiner in 1966/1967

We used Vance and Koiner as motherships to extend our time at sea. I'd be glad to hear from anyone who might remember those days or have photos of the boats along side. Also, a group of us have been building a monument dedicated to those USN/USCG troops that paid the ultimate price. Anyone interested in the monument, please go to www.vummf.org.

I shared duties on PCF 37 with LTJG Tom McBride and we were out of CosDiv 13, Cat Lo . We rode the Vance after the departure of Captain Arnheiter, but knew many of the cast of characters dipicted in Neil Sheehans book "The Arnheiter Affair". Chaplain Dando rode on several patrols with me. After he returned to Pearl in August '67, he met my wife at Honolulu airport during my R&R. I arrived later at Hickam where he and my wife met me. That was a very relieved wardroom after Arnheiter's departure
Fair seas, John Howell
