Reasons for reading about the Vance= To find shipmates, Other
Comments= When war-ships are tied side-by-side for any period of time, crew members crossing them learn to respect each ship and each service member they encounter. In my case, being a Yeoman it was always a matter of knowing who I could borrow forms and supplies from...or which had the better movie an a particular evening.
The r-e-s-p-e-c-t and memories of such times never leave our hearts. Durant DER-389 was my first duty station out of "A" school and it set the standard for my Navy career.
I believe Vance crew members make the same boast!
