Reasons for reading about the Vance= My family history, Other
Comments= I am writing this entry for my former late Father In Law, SS1 Harvey W. LaGassey, USCG. Harvey served as a Quartermaster on the Vance during WWII.
We had discussed many times his service and recollections on the Vance including Atlantic Convoys and the destruction of the U Boat. Harvey passed away in 1996. I was always proud of your WWII service as I was my father's, a Pearl Harbor Survivor. I am proud of my active USCG service and thank the men and women of the Coast Guard and other Sea Services for their sacrifices.
