Hello from the Lansing DER388.
I served from 1960-1962. I think I was probably the last DER sailor to see our ships. Even though Lansing was sold for scrap, I saw Vance, Wilhoite and Lansing tied up in Long Beach, all prepared as target ships. Somehow, Lansing got diverted and was scrapped. Anyhow a little tidbit of information. It was a sad day for me, I only wish I had taken pictures. We had been to a picnic at the base and were taking pictures. For some reason I took none of our ships.I will be putting your page as a link on my page. You may do the same if you wish.
