| 3/7/53 RESCUE SHIP. –The US Coast Guard Cutter "Vance" (above) will make an official call at the port of Manila today and remain until Monday morning. "Vance," commanded by Commander Gerald T. Applegate, USCG, has a complement of 11 officers and 125 men and is standing by for any calamity which may occur in Philippine waters. The ship will remain at Sangley Point till April 19, at which time she will be relieved to return to her home port in Honolulu. |
