May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again, ... may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Rest in peace George. My brother lost his battle with the damn cancer last night. Wanted to let his friends here know this and please pass the news on to others that knew him for me.

Earl Rowe My twin brother Merel and I were sad to hear of George’s passing. (Merel is not on facebook.) Last year in Branson was the first time my wife had met him, she was very impressed with his personality and talked about his up-beat attitude. I miss the good old days in Pearl Harbor and Taiwan and all the other places we went. George was always fun and had kind words for others. RIP shipmate.

Joseph Betters Jane, I can't express the feeling I have at hearing of George’s passing. Others here have said it much better than I could. I spent many hours with George. Driving across country to reunions and visiting at each others homes. I do wish you and your family peace knowing he is not suffering. Please contact me at jbetters@ussvance.com. I will if possible make it to his funeral and make arrangements to pick up the ships memorabilia.

Joseph Betters Since I heard about George this afternoon I've been on the verge of tears. George and I spent many days together driving to reunions. Visiting at each others homes. All my grandkids loved George. I am placing all the comments I can find onto a webpage to honor George. There are many who do not use FB and they need to see the respect this man has earned.
